Forced to behave oneself, was successful (4,4)
I believe the answer is:
made good
'was successful' is the definition.
'forced to behave oneself' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'forced' could be 'made' (both can mean coerced) and 'made' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'good' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
