Get impulse to embrace sweetheart (6)
I believe the answer is:
derive
'get' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'impulse to embrace sweetheart' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'sweetheart' could be 'e' (the heart/centre of 'sweet') and 'e' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'drive' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for derive that I've seen before include "Issue" , "Get or trace from a source" , "Originate (from something)" , "Draw" , "Infer; originate (from)" .)
