Crossword Genius

Happy times for one participating in wild feasts (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

fiestas

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'happy times' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are plural nouns, I cannot understand how one could define the other.

'one participating in wild feasts' is the wordplay.
'one' becomes 'i' (Roman numeral).
'participating in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'wild' is an anagram indicator.
'feasts' is an anagram of 'festas'.
'i' placed into 'festas' is 'FIESTAS'.

'for' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for fiestas that I've seen before include "It's safe to have public celebrations in Spain" , "holidays ..." .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
