Having been pushed down? (9)
I believe the answer is:
depressed
'having been pushed down?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'been pushed down?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'been' could be 'pressed' (pressing is a kind of being) and 'pressed' is found within the answer.
'down?' could be 'd' and 'd' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'e' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for depressed that I've seen before include "Having been pushed down" , "25 [BLUE]" , "Downhearted" , "Indented or melancholy" , "dispirited" .)
