Having come from, was acclaimed by (6)
I believe the answer is:
hailed
'acclaimed by' is the definition.
'hailed' can be an answer for 'acclaimed' (hail can mean to praise or acclaim). I am not certain of the 'by' bit.
I cannot understand how the remainder of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for hailed that I've seen before include "Greeted like ancient Romans" , "acknowledged" , "Called, a cab say" , "Came down in frozen pellets" , "Called out to attract attention" .)
