Having worked in the garden, now prepared for dance (7)
I believe the answer is:
hoedown
'for dance' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'having worked in the garden now prepared' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'garden' could be 'hoe' (to garden could mean to hoe) and 'hoe' is located in the answer.
an anagram of 'now' is 'own' which is present in the answer.
A single letter 'd' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for hoedown that I've seen before include "US country dance" , "Boisterous American folk dance" , "Lively folk dance (US)" , "US folk dance gathering" , "American country dance" .)
