Crossword Genius

How's your father upholding higher education for all? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

unisex

'for all?' is the definition.
(for men and women)

'how's your father upholding higher education' is the wordplay.
'how's your father' becomes 'sex' (euphemism for sex).
'upholding' means one lot of letters go next to another (holding on top - in a down clue).
'higher education' becomes 'uni' (I've seen this in other clues).
'sex' after 'uni' is 'UNISEX'.

(Other definitions for unisex that I've seen before include "Gender-inclusive" , "Of clothing, hairstyles etc - suitable for men and women" , "Common to both genders, say clothes" , "Suitable for male and female" , "Available to men and women, clothes or hairdressing salons" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
