In sequence (7,5)
I believe the answer is:
batting order
'in sequence' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.
'in sequence' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'in' is within the answer.
'sequence' could be 'order' (I've seen this before) and 'order' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
(Another definition for batting order that I've seen is " Playing sequence".)
