Is reminiscent of, it strikes one (6)
I believe the answer is:
smacks
'is' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I don't understand how one could define the other.
I cannot understand how the rest of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for smacks that I've seen before include "Loud slaps for fishing vessels" , "Punishes" , "Has a hint (of)" , "Strikes with the hand" , "Hits the fishing vessels" .)
