Crossword Genius

Jerks in bank making money (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

copeck

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'money' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how they can define each other.

'jerks in bank' is the wordplay.
'jerks' becomes 'PE' (Physical Education - jerks can mean exercise).
'in' is an insertion indicator.
'bank' becomes 'cock' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'pe' placed inside 'cock' is 'COPECK'.

'making' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for copeck that I've seen before include "money of little value" , "Russian coin" , "little change in Russia" , "Part of a rouble" , "money in Russia" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
