I believe the answer is:

drivelled

'made little sense' is the definition.
(to drivel is to talk nonsense)

'journey over valley on reflection' is the wordplay.
'journey over' becomes 'drive' (drive can mean to make a journey in a car).
'valley' becomes 'dell' (dell is a kind of valley).
'on reflection' says the letters should be written backwards.
'dell' back-to-front is 'lled'.
'drive'+'lled'='DRIVELLED'

(Another definition for drivelled that I've seen is " Talked rubbish".)
