Journos and their boss squashed (7)
I believe the answer is:
pressed
'squashed' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with contact as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps you can see a link between them that I can't see?
'journos and their boss' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'boss' could be 'ed' (short for editor - newspaper boss) and 'ed' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'press' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for pressed that I've seen before include "in a big hurry" , "crushed juice" , "Forced" , "Coerced" , "Urged U crushed" .)
