Crossword Genius

Just over ten kilometres before ecclesiastical section (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

knave

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'ecclesiastical section' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both man-made objects as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'just over ten kilometres before' is the wordplay.
'just over ten' becomes 'nave' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'kilometres' becomes 'k'.
'before' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'nave' put after 'k' is 'KNAVE'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for knave that I've seen before include "Rogue - card" , "Yet he may be a diamond" , "one found amongst thieves" , "cheat of old" , "Unscrupulous fellow" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
