Knight pierces flesh as intended (5)
I believe the answer is:
meant
'as intended' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'knight pierces flesh' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'knight' could be 'n' (abbreviation for knight in chess) and 'n' is found in the answer.
'flesh' could be 'meat' (I have seen 'Edible flesh' mean 'meat' so perhaps 'flesh' could also mean 'meat') and 'meat' is located in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for meant that I've seen before include "Implied" , "designed" , "no accident" , "represented" , "Intentional" .)
