Like a stranded sailor? (6)
I believe the answer is:
'stranded sailor?' is the definition.
'ashore' can be an answer for 'stranded' (I've seen this in another clue). I am not sure about the 'sailor?' bit.
'like a' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'like' could be 'as' and 'as' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'hore' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ashore that I've seen before include "Hoarse (anag)", "in port?", "On land (as opposed to the sea)", "Going on land from sea", "on terra firma".)
