Like girl to somersault, then take top off, in dance (5)
I believe the answer is:
salsa
'dance' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'like girl to somersault' is the wordplay.
'like' becomes 'as'.
'girl' becomes 'las' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'to somersault' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'as'+'las'='aslas'
'aslas' back-to-front is 'SALSA'.
'then take top off in' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.
(Other definitions for salsa that I've seen before include "Spicy 7" , "This could be hot" , "Spicy tomato sauce" , "that's hot and saucy?" , "Latin-American dance" .)
