Crossword Genius

Live on the edge (6)

Ross

I think it could be either:

reside

beside

'live' is the definition.
(I know that reside is a more specific form of the action live)

'on the edge' is the wordplay.
'on' becomes 're' ('on' can be mean 'with reference to').
'the edge' becomes 'side' (edge can mean the side of something).
're'+'side'='RESIDE'

(Other definitions for reside that I've seen before include "Lodge" , "Hang out with" , "Live (at an address)" , "Desire (anag) - to live" , "Dwell - settle" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun, The Telegraph, The Independent and The Guardian.
