Crossword Genius

Look after husband with sliced bun? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

haircut

'bun?' is the definition.
(bun is a type of haircut)

'look after husband with sliced' is the wordplay.
'look' becomes 'air' (I've seen this before).
'after' says to put letters next to each other.
'husband' becomes 'h'.
'with' says to put letters next to each other.
'sliced' becomes 'cut' (similar in meaning).
'air' after 'h' is 'hair'.
'hair'+'cut'='HAIRCUT'

(Other definitions for haircut that I've seen before include "Mohican, possibly" , "that Damocles would have dreaded?" , "Pageboy is one" , "Tonsorial style" , "DA, for example" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
