Make it, in your chosen career? (4)
I believe the answer is:
earn
'make' is the definition.
(as in making money)
'it in your chosen career?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'it' could be 'e' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT') and 'e' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'arn' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for earn that I've seen before include "and 3: Work for bed and board" , "Be paid for work" , "Take in bread" , "Merit through work or endeavour" , "Warrant" .)
