Crossword Genius

Man of tomorrow? (3)

Ross

I think it could be either:

boy

tom

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'man' is the first definition.
(Tom is a man's name)

'tomorrow?' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how they can define each other.

'of' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for tom that I've seen before include "He is associated with Dick and Harry" , "Boy running off with pig" , "Jerry's cartoon adversary" , "What Dick Whittington had" , "A male domestic cat" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
