Metal badge-wearer (6)
I believe the answer is:
copper
'metal' is the definition.
(I know that copper is a type of metal)
'badge-wearer' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'badge wearer' could be 'cop' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'cop' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'per' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for copper that I've seen before include "Chemical element, symbol Cu" , "PC" , "Metallic element for a British policeman" , "Little money" , "English policeman" .)
