Crossword Genius

Most base jumping lives lost in the end (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

vilest

'most base' is the definition.
('vile' can be a synonym of 'base')

'jumping lives lost in the end' is the wordplay.
'jumping' indicates an anagram.
'in the end' suggests the final letters.
The final letter of 'lost' is 't'.
'lives' with letters rearranged gives 'viles'.
'viles'+'t'='VILEST'

(Another definition for vilest that I've seen is " most foul".)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
