No small scraps! (4)
I believe the answer is:
wars
'scraps' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I cannot understand how they can define each other.
'no small' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'small' could be 's' (abbreviation - e.g. clothes size) and 's' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'war' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for wars that I've seen before include "Armed conflicts against enemies" , "See 8" , "Battles" , "- - of the Roses" .)
