Okay with ordinary distress call being raised (2-2)
I believe the answer is:
so-so
'okay with ordinary' is the definition.
'so so' can be an answer for 'ordinary' (I've seen this before). I am unsure of the 'okay with' bit.
'distress call being raised' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'call' could be 'sos' (I have seen 'Call of distress ' mean 'sos' so perhaps 'call' could also mean 'sos') and 'sos' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'o' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for so-so that I've seen before include "Barely passable" , "just about adequate" , "Informally, only moderately good or well" , "Neither good nor bad" , "Tolerable, indifferent" .)
