Old writer using upper case for part of book section (7)
I believe the answer is:
chaucer
'old writer' is the definition.
'Chaucer' can be an answer for 'writer' (Chaucer is an example). I'm not sure about the 'old' bit.
I cannot understand how the rest of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for chaucer that I've seen before include "Geoffrey . . . . . . ., author of 'The Canterbury Tales'" , "Geoffrey --, English poet" , "Geoffrey -, fourteenth century poet" , "Early English writer" , "14th-century English poet" .)
