Crossword Genius

One with a broken horn? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

rhino

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'one' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how they can define each other.

'broken horn?' is the second definition.
The answer and definition can be both animals as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe you can see a link between them that I can't see?

'with a' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for rhino that I've seen before include "Stumpy" , "Beastly type that could charge you" , "Horned beast (abbr.)" , "Endangered mammal" , "In brief, large thick-skinned animal of Africa" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
