Crossword Genius

Papa rents suits (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pleases

'suits' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'papa rents' is the wordplay.
'papa' becomes 'P' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'rents' becomes 'leases' (I've seen this in another clue).
'p'+'leases'='PLEASES'

(Other definitions for pleases that I've seen before include "satisfies" , "Makes happy or satisfied" , "Delights" , "Gives satisfaction" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
