Crossword Genius

Place of great activity, buzz? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

beehive

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'place' is the definition.
(I have seen 'place of business' mean 'beehive' so perhaps 'place' could also mean 'beehive')

'great activity buzz?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'buzz?' could be 'be' (buzzing is a kind of being) and 'be' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'of' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for beehive that I've seen before include "nickname of US State" , "Where queen attended" , "Habitat of apians" , "Site of industry" , "Busy insect home" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
