Points along the line, perhaps (4)
I believe the answer is:
dots
'points along' is the definition.
'dots' can be an answer for 'points' (I've seen this in another clue). I am not certain of the 'along' bit.
'the line perhaps' is the wordplay.
'the' becomes 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects).
'line' indicates putting letters inside.
'perhaps' becomes 'dos' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
't' inserted into 'dos' is 'DOTS'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for dots that I've seen before include "Short signals in Morse cods" , "Tiny circular shapes" , "Tiny spots" , "Very small round shapes" , "Tiny circles" .)
