Crossword Genius

Property east of Paris demolished (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

estate

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'property' is the definition.
(I know that estate is a type of property)

'east of paris demolished' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'east' is 'esta' which is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'te' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for estate that I've seen before include "All of one's assets after death" , "All money and property owned at time of death" , "Nakedness" , "The entire property of a deceased person" , "Property - tea set (anag)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
