I believe the answer is:

braid

'scrambled eggs?' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.

'rabid for something' is the wordplay.
'rabid' can be anagrammed to 'BRAID'.
But, I am unsure how this is indicated.

'like' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for braid that I've seen before include "decoration" , "Ornamental strip" , "Ornamental tape or plait" , "Gilded ribbon" , "Decorative ribbon" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
