Retired lady with no clothing has to remain inside (4)
I believe the answer is:
abed
'retired' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'lady with no clothing has to remain inside' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'remain' could be 'be' (eg be patient, remain patient) and 'be' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ad' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for abed that I've seen before include "Not yet up (archaic)" , "in retirement, possibly?" , "Retired for the night" , "Tucked up for the night" , "in a comfortable position" .)
