Short cut taken when hunting (4)
I believe the answer is:
crop
'short cut' is the definition.
'crop' can be an answer for 'cut' (I've seen this in another clue). I am unsure of the 'short' bit.
I don't understand how the remainder of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for crop that I've seen before include "The yield, from cereals say" , "Trim (a photograph)" , "supply" , "Hairstyle; bird's pouch" , "Yield from cultivation" .)
