Small potatoes or peanuts, nibbles for hen party? (11)
I believe the answer is:
chickenfeed
'small potatoes' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'hen party?' is the wordplay.
'hen' becomes 'chicken' (I have seen 'Young hen ' mean 'chicken' so perhaps 'hen' could also mean 'chicken').
'party?' becomes 'feed' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'chicken'+'feed'='CHICKENFEED'
'or peanuts nibbles for' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for chickenfeed that I've seen before include "Small potatoes" , "mash, perhaps?" , "Very small amount of money" , "Not much money - for the birds" , "very little money" .)
