Crossword Genius

Small rent for large shop? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

store

'large shop?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'small rent' is the wordplay.
'small' becomes 's' (abbreviation - e.g. clothes size).
'rent' becomes 'tore' ('rend' and 'tear' both mean to rip something).
's'+'tore'='STORE'

'for' is the link.

(Other definitions for store that I've seen before include "Large shop; keep" , "Save" , "Eg, granite" , "Put by; shop" , "Stock or supply, or warehouse for them" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
