Solid enough to keep to the very end (6)
![Ross](/clue/static/ross-mug.min.png)
I believe the answer is:
stocky
'solid' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'keep to the very end' is the wordplay.
'keep' becomes 'stock' (I've seen this before).
'to' says to put letters next to each other.
'end' suggests the final letters.
The last letter of 'very' is 'y'.
'stock'+'y'='STOCKY'
'enough to' is the link.
This may not be right. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for stocky that I've seen before include "Broad" , "Strongly-built" , "Thickset" , "Short but well-built" , "Short and solidly built" .)
