Crossword Genius

Solitude of one very Latin about love (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

isolation

'solitude' is the definition.
(I know that solitude can be written as isolation)

'one very latin about love' is the wordplay.
'one' becomes 'i' (Roman numeral).
'very' becomes 'so' (both can mean 'extremely').
'about' is an insertion indicator.
'love' becomes 'o' (love means zero in tennis).
'latin' placed around 'o' is 'lation'.
'i'+'so'+'lation'='ISOLATION'

'of' is the link.

(Other definitions for isolation that I've seen before include "Quarantine; solitude" , "Man could display this" , "Staff in such a hospital working with" , "Separation - solitude" , "Remote and lonely state" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
