Crossword Genius

Spirit or beer after getting married (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

morale

'spirit' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'or beer after getting married' is the wordplay.
'beer' becomes 'ale' (type of beer).
'after getting' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'married' becomes 'm'.
'or'+'ale'='orale'
'orale' after 'm' is 'MORALE'.

(Other definitions for morale that I've seen before include "Esprit de corps" , "Degree of optimism (of troops, perhaps)" , "General level of confidence or optimism" , "State of a group's confidence and spirit" , "Mood" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
