Crossword Genius

Stand in a studio, or move slowly left (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

easel

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'stand in a studio' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'move slowly left' is the wordplay.
'move slowly' becomes 'ease' (easing is a kind of moving. I am not sure about the 'slowly' bit.).
'left' becomes 'l' (common abbreviation).
'ease'+'l'='EASEL'

'or' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for easel that I've seen before include "artist's requisite" , "Lease (anag)" , "Support for artist's canvas" , "stand supporting artistic effort" , "Painter's frame" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
