Stay out of sight — but not on the top bunk (3,3)
I believe the answer is:
lie low
'the top bunk' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I can't understand how one could define the other.
'stay out of sight but not' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'stay' could be 'lie' and 'lie' is located in the answer.
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'on' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lie low that I've seen before include "Use bottom bunk, perhaps" , "Keep one's head down" , "Keep concealed or quiet" , "Stay doggo" , "Stay out of sight, be inconspicuous" .)
