Strip down parts of shotgun? Right! (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

unrig

'strip down parts' is the definition.
'unrig' can be an answer for 'strip' (I've seen this before). I am unsure of the 'down parts' bit.

'of shotgun? right' is the wordplay.
'of' indicates a hidden word.
'UNRIG' is hidden within 'shotgun right'.

(Other definitions for unrig that I've seen before include "In rug (anag.)" , "Take tackle out" , "(Of a boat) strip of its mast, stays etc" , "Dismantle" , "Take down sails" .)

I've seen this clue in the Irish Times.
