I believe the answer is:

ins and outs

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'rowing?' is the definition.
Both the answer and definition are singular nouns.
Maybe there's an association between them I don't understand?

'the finer points of' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is present in the answer.
'points' could be 'ns' (two compass points) and 'ns' is found in the answer.
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ins and outs that I've seen before include "parliamentary election result?" , "Details" , "signs on doors perhaps" , "cabinet reshuffle?" .)
