Crossword Genius

Time for an equable amount of honour, no less (4,4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

half hour

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'honour no less' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how one could define the other.

'time for an equable amount' is the wordplay.
'time' becomes 'hour' (unit of time).
'for' means one lot of letters go next to another (I've seen this in other clues).
'an equable amount' becomes 'half' (half is a kind of amount. I am not sure about the 'equable' bit.).
'hour' put after 'half' is 'HALF-HOUR'.

'of' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for half hour that I've seen is " a while".)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
