Tons to wrap more than nine times (7)
I believe the answer is:
tenfold
'times' is the definition.
(I have seen 'several times' mean 'tenfold' so perhaps 'times' could also mean 'tenfold')
'tons to wrap' is the wordplay.
'tons' becomes 't'.
'to wrap' becomes 'enfold' ('enfold' can be a synonym of 'wrap').
't'+'enfold'='TENFOLD'
'more than nine' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tenfold that I've seen before include "(Increased) by an order of magnitude" , "several times" , "(Multiplied) by putting 0 on end" , "x10" , "An order of magnitude as much" .)
