Totally vacant check on computer using keyboard (6)
I believe the answer is:
typing
'keyboard' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how one could define the other.
'totally vacant check on computer' is the wordplay.
'vacant' says to hollow out the word (remove centre letters) (a vacant or emptied out form of the word).
'check on computer' becomes 'ping' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'totally' with its centre taken out is 'ty'.
'ty'+'ping'='TYPING'
'using' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for typing that I've seen before include "Using one form of keyboard" , "Keyboarding" .)
