Turning up with evasive rodent (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

coypu

'rodent' is the definition.
(I know that coypu is a type of rodent)

'turning up with evasive' is the wordplay.
'turning' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'with' says to put letters next to each other.
'evasive' becomes 'coy' (coy can mean shy or evasive).
'up' reversed gives 'pu'.
'pu' put after 'coy' is 'COYPU'.

(Other definitions for coypu that I've seen before include "rodents" , "Creature in fur coat" , "S. American "beaver"" , "Large South American beaver-like rodent" , "South American rodent bred for its fur, nutria" .)
