Wear what the chap did on 'is 'orse (5)
I believe the answer is:
erode
'wear' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'the chap did on 'is 'orse' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'chap' could be 'rod' and 'rod' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ee' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'what' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for erode that I've seen before include "'Deteriorate, wear away (5)'" , "Corrode" , "Become ground down or deteriorate" , "Slowly remove" , "Gradually wear away" .)
