Although both the answer and definition are present participle verbs, I cannot understand how they can define each other.

I cannot really see how this works, but
'being' could be 'king' (king is a kind of being) and 'king' is present in the answer.
'an' could be 'i' (Roman numeral for one) and 'i' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
