Yet another helping for bronze medallists? (6)
I believe the answer is:
thirds
'medallists?' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are plural nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'yet another helping for bronze' is the wordplay.
'yet another helping' becomes 's' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'for' means one lot of letters go next to another (I've seen this in other clues).
'bronze' becomes 'third' (I've seen this in another clue).
's' after 'third' is 'THIRDS'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for thirds that I've seen before include "Three equal parts" , "Degrees" , "sections" , "Musical intervals" .)
