'asked' becomes 'begged' (begging is a kind of asking).
'to adopt' is an insertion indicator.
'bird' becomes 'owl' (owl is a kind of bird).
'begged' going around 'owl' is 'BOW-LEGGED'.

(Another definition for bow-legged that I've seen is " Bandy".)
